Force Sensitive Tiles, Floor Panels and Walkways

Tactex manufactures pressure sensitive floor tiles and walkways using Kinotex RST - a rigid, high-resolution sensing technology with superior durability and a long life expectancy.

Kinotex floor systems are available in a number of standard or custom designs making them a flexible solution for a variety of clinical and research settings. Our scalable technology has innovative layout capabilities which offer new options for researchers and product developers. Choose from a variety of ready-assembled kits or consult with the Tactex engineering team to create a custom pressure mapping floor that blends unobtrusively into the surrounding environment.

Ready-to-use floor sensor kits

These floor sensor systems use a high-resolution version of Tactex’s standard sensor tile for superior sensitivity and optimal monitoring capabilities. Pressure sensitive floor panels are shipped already assembled so they can be used immediately on receipt. Each system  comes with a CAN-Bus to USB adaptor, power supply, and basic pressure mapping software. Sensor components are covered by rubber matting and are enclosed in a rigid, lightweight frame with easy-lift handles. Download brochure

Single Tiles

Single tiles are available in two formats with either 144 or 576 sensing points per 12” tile.  Sensors function beneath a variety of durable wear layers including rubber matting, laminates and carpeting. Single tiles may be incorporated into existing walkways or used as standalone devices. Download brochure

Scalable Walkways

Allow for complete and natural movement by creating a pressure sensitive floor or walkway in a custom format. Multiple tiles can be networked to create innovative layouts including non-linear paths for monitoring turning and object avoidance. Custom framing may be required. Up to 45 tiles may be combined on a single
power supply and CAN-to-USB interface. Contact sales@tactex.com to discuss your requirements.

EMI sensitive environments

Traditional Kinotex sensor pads use non-conductive components making them a practical solution for settings that are sensitive to electro-magnetic activity. Contact sales@tactex.com to discuss custom solutions for labs with magnetic motion tracking systems or other EMI sensitive equipment.

Tactex Floor Sensors in Research

Researchers and developers at the TRIL Centre in Dublin, Ireland have incorporated a 3’x 15’ Tactex walkway into their cutting-edge BioMOBIUS research platform. See the Tactex walkway in action and learn more about this project at www.biomobius.com.
